
Adele Mara (April 28, 1923 - May 7, 2010 in the USA) was an American singer and actress. She appeared in films during the 1940s and 1950s[2] in addition to in television shows during the 1950s and 1960s. Adele St. Mara became her name professionally and she was then offered a contract with Columbia Pictures[citation requiredColumbia Pictures [citation required]. Also, she gained experience working with the studio's comedy shorts and B-films. The name was later changed to Adele Mara. Mara started her career as a receptionist in the Three Stooges movie I Can Hardly Wait. Mara as well as Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character in the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. She is the character Alias Boston Blackie (1942), as the sister to a wrongfully accused and escaped convict. When her Columbia contract lapsed and she was transferred to Republic Pictures, where she was a regular in the studio's westerns and outdoor adventures. [citation needed] She starred in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch starring John Wayne, Angel In Exile (leading woman), Sands of Iwo Jima where John Agar is the love interestwas played by her, California Passage, and Don Siegel's Count the Hours.
